The extreme low light performer. This 8x56 version of the Hawke Endurance binocular with its large 56mm objective lenses not only collects a lot of light but by using fully multi-coated optics and highly reflective prisms is able to transmit as much of it as possible along the pathway and onto your eyes for extremely bright views.
This 8x56 configuration also produces a very large (7mm) exit pupil. These large shafts of light exiting the eyepieces ensure that your eyes are presented with more than enough light for you to perceive a bright image even in very low light conditions when the pupils of your eyes are at maximum dilation.
The wide field of view that these binoculars offer is a real benefit at closer ranges where it makes finding and keeping your subject in view that much easier.
All these main characteristics combine extremely well to produce a pair of binoculars that will appeal to the birder, general wildlife observer or hunter that often finds themselves in dense woodlands, out before sunrise or just after sunset where light conditions are far from ideal and where the distance to the intended subject is moderate. Another popular use for an 8x56 binocular like these is for astronomy where the wide view makes it easier to scan the night sky and take in the complete views of star clusters and constellations.
A point to mention is that whilst the 15mm of eye relief should be perfectly adequate for most users, but we usually recommend having at least 16mm to ensure comfortable viewing and getting a complete image if you wear glasses.
Fully multi-coated optics, highly reflective, phase corrected Bak-4 roof prisms and large 56mm objectives. This series of full-sized Hawke Endurance binoculars are available in three different magnifications and is designed to excel in low light where they are sure to provide you with high-quality views that are brighter than an equivalent standard sized 42mm binocular can achieve.
Supplied in either 8x, 10x or the powerful 12x option, the full sized options within the Hawke Endurance series with their large 56mm objectives are designed to offer you increased brightness and a better low light performance within your chosen power range.
Good quality optics and coatings make sure that the extra potential of the larger lenses is realised and as much light as possible passes through the system, resulting in extremely bright as well as high-quality views.
The Hawke Endurance binoculars have a fairly typical roof prism body shape, apart from one small modern twist and that is that they have a top-hinge design. This robust bridge allows for more of the barrels to be exposed and thus provides a large surface area to hold onto for a secure and comfortable grip even with one hand.
Almost the entire exterior is covered in a thin, but tough rubber coating. As well as offering more protection to the chassis and optics contained within, this further improves grip and this un-reflective surface makes for a more camouflaged binocular.
Waterproof, the chassis is o-ring sealed, protecting the inside from moisture as well as dust in dry climates. The interior is also described as Nitrogen purged, which means all internal air is replaced with a moistureless Nitrogen gas, which prevents the internal glass surfaces from fogging up.
Twist-up eyecups allow for a precise eye-relief setting, whilst the centrally located focus wheel is large and easy to reach. It also has a high grip surface, which in combination with the smooth action makes accurate adjustments no problem even whilst wearing gloves in winter.
The right eye dioptre ring permits you to finely calibrate the instrument to allow for any difference of vision between your left and right eyes.
Hawke Sport Optics use a fully multi-coated optical pathway on the Endurance series binoculars. These anti-reflective coatings contribute to a far brighter and improved quality view as they minimise the amount of light that gets reflected away or in unwanted directions as it comes into contact with all the exterior lens elements throughout the system.
The roof prisms are manufactured from quality BaK-4 optical glass and they have also been treated with multiple layers of a phase correcting material. This adds to image resolution as it prevents the individual wavelengths of light from stepping out of phase with each other as they reflect around the prism.
In terms of their optics, the main difference between these and Hawke’s more illustrious Endurance ED binoculars is that this Endurance series does not contain extra low dispersion glass (ED) lens elements. Used correctly, ED glass does have the potential to reduce color fringing, but this is not always the case. Binoculars like these do use optical glass with low dispersion properties and in many cases perform almost as well in this area.
Packed with the Hawke Endurance series of binoculars are the usual arrangement of accessories that includes a protective and well padded carry case. A comfortable padded neck strap, protective covers for both the objective and ocular lenses and a microfiber lens cleaning cloth.
These Endurance binoculars come with the impressive Hawke No Fault Warranty that states if your binoculars are defective or damaged, they will repair or replace it at no cost to you no matter whose fault it was. You can register your Hawke binoculars here and avoid the further complications in case the proof of purchase might get lost in the future.
