Whilst it makes for a bigger, less portable instrument, the large 50mm objective lenses on these Tasco Essential binoculars are able to capture more light than smaller ones and when used in combination with the 10x magnification, it produces a generous 5mm exit pupil. Thus the advantage of this is that even though these budget binoculars are only multi-coated and not fully multi-coated like more expensive instruments, they are still able to perform reasonably well in low light conditions such as you would expect to encounter on an overcast day, in thick forests or when the sun is just below the horizon.
The reasonably powerful 10x magnification delivers a good level of image detail at longer ranges and thus all these characteristics combine to make this Tasco Essentials 10x50 binoculars ideal for uses like mid to long range hunting and bird watching.
This 10x50 configuration, when used with Porro prisms, is also a popular option for astronomy and thus these binoculars would make an ideal entry-level option for the novice stargazer shopping on a tight budget.
One point to keep in mind is that at 5.5 meters, the minimum close focus distance on these binoculars is relatively long, making them unsuitable for very close range observation of things like butterflies.
