EAW was founded by Ernst Apel in 1919 and it is still the oldest working manufacturer of mounts in the world. They manufacture pivot mounts, slide-on/roll-off mounts, claw mounts and adapters for Docter sights and Aimpoint Micro devices. The company guarantees tension-free fit of the optical devices and offers a lot of mount versions to satisfy the needs of everyone. They have a stainless look which is achieved with high-quality nickel coatings.
CZ stands for Ceská Zbrojovka. The company headquarters are based in Uhersky Brod, a small town in the Czech Republic. The present-day CZ was set-up in 1936 as a subsidiary of CZ Strakonice, which was, in turn, a subsidiary of Zbrojovka Brno – the armaments industry grew rapidly in the new Czechoslovakia at the time, and Uhersky Brod seemed like a great location since it was secluded and lay beyond the range of American bombers.
CZ 550 is a bolt-action rifle and was first introduced in 1997 when it replaced CZ 537. It features a fixed magazine, but some models come with a removable magazine. It has an emergency gas pressure release valve on the right side of the receiver. There are four locking lugs on the bolt. It has no mounting holes on the receiver; instead, the receiver is equipped with a 19mm dovetail for mounting purposes. The safety catch is located on the right of the receiver, behind the bolt lever.
This EAW adapter is mounted on a rifle with a 19mm dovetail on the receiver. It also fits other rifles with a dovetail of the same dimensions such as CZ 537, CZ 557, Brno ZKK 600, Brno ZKK 601, Brno ZKK 602 and Brunner 19.
On this adapter/mount, a red dot with an Aimpoint Micro footprint is placed. This footprint can be found on Aimpoint Micro devices and other red dot sights that use the same standard – Holosun Paralow 403 (except ‘A’), 503, 515, Vortex Crossfire, and many others.
The adapter is very compact. It’s made out of steel which makes it very robust and durable. It can withstand the recoil of all calibers.
On the adapter, there is a screw which is in the same line as the barrel of the rifle. It works as a recoil stop but can also be removed.
Firstly, the user has to place the red dot with an Aimpoint Micro footprint on the adapter, making sure that the recoil stop of the adapter fits into the right slot on the red dot sight’s footprint.
Then, the red dot has to be fixed on the adapter with 4 screws.
Afterwards, the user loosens the nut screw on the right side of the adapter.
The adapter is then placed on a 19mm dovetail, such as the one found on a CZ 550 rifle.
In the end, the user has to adequately tighten the nut screw on the right side of the adapter to complete the mounting procedure
The product has a warranty period of 30 years.
