Mounts
Shield RMS/SMS mounting standard is featured on most compact open reflex red dot sights. It is a miniature version of the Docter/Noblex mounting standard – there are four sockets, one in each corner, and two screw holes between the middle and the rear section of the mounting surface. The sockets are paired with recoil-stopping pins on the adapter. Shield was the first company to produce a red dot sight with this mounting standard. Once the sight is paired with an adapter, the screws are put into place from above, through the housing of the red dot sight.
Many compact optic-ready pistols are designed to be used in combination with a red dot sight that has the Shield RMS/SMS mounting standard. Many pistol and adapter manufacturers list Leupold DeltaPoint Pro as an example of a dot that features this mounting standard.

There are some modifications of the Shield mounting standard on the market, Holosun 407/507 K mounting standard being one of the most popular.
Most Shield RMS/SMS mounts are made from aluminium. They are produced by Shield, EGW, Leupold, Toni System, and many others.
