By simply moving the lever next to the right eyepiece the magnification on the binoculars and be altered to any setting between a reasonably powerful 10x, right up to a massive 30x. This zoom ability gives you a lot of flexibility and makes these binoculars suitable for a wide range of applications. One of the biggest advantages is to be able to scan an area on a low power setting and then once you have your subject locked in view, zoom in to observe it in far greater detail.
At 50mm in diameter, these large objective lenses, like a large window are able to gather more light. Thus they contribute to this instrument being very effective at the lower power settings during low light conditions like you get at dawn, dusk or overcast days. This because at the 10x magnification setting they produce a generous 5mm exit pupil, which is large enough to offer a reasonably good performance in poor light. However, keep in mind that as you increase the power (Zoom in), the exit pupil size decreases. This means you will not perceive as bright an image in low light when your pupils are dilated and thus much larger than the shaft of light exiting the eyepiece.
Another important detail to confirm is that these binoculars are tripod adaptable, which at the higher magnification settings is vital in ensuring that you maintain a shake-free image and thus enable you to observe the finest details.
Extremely affordable Celestron UpClose series offers binoculars for different use, among which are also two zoom models with adjustable magnifications for finest details without the need to move to another location. You can choose between the smallest binoculars on the market with 8x21 configuration and large 20x50 configuration for nighttime observations. You can take them with you on sport events, concerts, when hiking, hunting, birdwatching or looking at the night sky for stars, comets, planets etc. The smallest model has a roof prism design and larger has a Porro prism design that helps to enhance light transmission. UpClose binoculars are multi-coated, using BK7 glass and splash-proof that protects them in damp areas and are equipped with central focusing mechanism instead of individual.
UpClose binoculars are made out of extremely durable aluminum housing that helps to protect them against impacts together with rubber armouring. Small dimensions that make them compact also help with easier portability and comfortable handling, even when using them for longer periods of time. UpClose binoculars are splash-proof, which means they aren’t waterproof and fog-proof but are still durable and tight enough to prevent damage when used in the damp areas. Fully sized models are also tripod adaptable which allows you to mount them on a tripod and get steadier images.
UpClose binoculars come in a case for storage and protection with a binocular strap. They are also equipped with objective lens covers and eyecups covers to protect the lenses, however they’re only included in bigger models, not in smaller roof prism models.
