The extremely powerful 25x magnification on this Skymaster is perfect for achieving greater image detail or enabling you to view objects at further distances away. At the same time, the very large, but not giant objectives collect a good deal of light and because of this, these binoculars will deliver a bright image in fair to good light conditions making them an excellent choice for long range terrestrial observation during the day. However because of the very high power you only get a 2.8mm diameter exit pupil, making this model less effective at night than the Skymaster 25x100 for example and thus whilst they are still a good choice for binocular astronomy you may not perceive as bright an image as a lower powered device or ones with larger objective lenses.
It is also important to note that this high power also reduces the field of view, which can make it a little harder to orientate yourself or scan a wide area looking for an object. It also means that in order to get a steady, shake-free image you will almost certainly need to fix the binocular onto a solid base, like a tripod. Here is where the included tripod adapter makes this very simple to do.
The 13mm of eye relief is fine unless you need to wear glasses where this may not be quite enough for you to be able to see the full image. Here the Skymaster 15x70 will probably be a better choice.
Award winning SkyMaster series by Celestron offers one of the best binoculars for astronomical and terrestrial viewing. Extreme power and large objective lenses offer incredible view-through with extreme detail in the most challenging light conditions. With SkyMaster binoculars, you are able to observe stars, planets, comets, galaxies and more. The smallest in the series with SkyMaster 8x56 configuration received the Space.com's 2014 Editor's award for being the best medium astronomy binocular and SkyMaster 25x100 as the best astronomy binoculars. There are also two zoom version available to be able to change magnifications without moving the position. The binoculars have Porro prism system with multi-coatings on glass surfaces (except DX models which are fully multi-coated) and are splash-proof and enclosed in rubber armoring for protection.
The SkyMaster binoculars are one of the most powerful binoculars on the market offering models with 15x, 20x and 25x magnifications combined with large objective lenses, from 56mm to 100mm. This configuration allows you to use them in poorest lighting conditions in the wildlife and for astronomy applications. Two of the models also offer variable magnifications, so you can get finer details without moving the position. They are made out of aluminum housing enclosed in rubber armouring for maximal protection against impacts and abrasions. The rubber armoring is also rugged to prevent any sudden slips. The pocket sized binoculars have a roof prism design to make them more compact and light, and bigger models have a Porro prism system to make them brighter. The binoculars are splash-proof, tightly sealed to not get damaged when using them in the damp areas.
SkyMasters are equipped with high-quality BaK-4 prisms for better light transmission and multi-coated lenses to help not only with brightness, but also to enhance the contrast and colors. This also helps to prevent the chromatic aberration, glaring and internal reflections. The smallest pocket sized models are fully-multi coated to help provide better images since they are using less bright roof prism system. All the models offer central focusing mechanism with grippy wheel that allows you to make quick adjustments with the help of right-eye diopter. Eyecups are foldable, but offer very generous eye-relief, and you can make it perfect even for eyeglass wearers.
SkyMaster binoculars comes in case for storage and protection and binocular strap. They are also equipped with objective lens covers and eyecups covers to protect the lenses, but are not included in smaller roof prism models.
