By combining top-end components with the 10x42 configuration, Hawke Sport Optics have created a versatile binocular that is ideally suited to the discerning outdoor enthusiast, wildlife observer or hunter that most often explores open spaces like you find on the plains, in the hills, or along a shoreline where distances to your target are generally reasonably long.
The 4.2mm exit pupil created by 10x42 binoculars suggests these are best used when there is plenty of good natural light, however, a fully multi-coated optical pathway and highly reflective mirror coatings on the prisms ensure a bright, high-quality image is produced in all but the very worst light conditions.
More lightweight and compact than the open-hinge models, the notably tactile rubber armor is designed to protect the unit, as well as provide a comfortable, high grip surface to hold onto.
For a 10x binocular, the field of view on this Sapphire ED is excellent, which is great for scanning large areas, allows you to take in more of the action at once and helps make it easier to follow fast moving objects and wildlife.
Unless you have particularly unsteady hands, the 10x magnification is fine for most users to use from the hands. However should you wish, these binoculars easily accept a tripod adapter and then attach to a tripod for a completely shake-free image.
The eye relief is 15mm, which for the majority of users is plenty. Having said that, should you need to use eyeglasses, this may be a little on the short side in which case the 8x42 Sapphire ED, with its 18mm might be a better option.
Award winning Hawke Sapphire ED binoculars offer great optical performance using the best technology and great build materials that makes them incredibly durable. You can choose between pocket and all-round models for everyday use. They integrate ED glass, are fully multi-coated and hydrophobic coating included in objective lenses. Sapphire ED binoculars can also pride themselves in wider field of view and long eye relief. Made out of magnesium housing and enclosed in beautifully designed rubber armouring makes them a real pleasure to use. They come in black and green color. The comfortability is also integrated in models with 43 mm lens diameter with an open-bridge design offering a firm wrap-around grip. They are well protected against water and internal fogging and therefore able to offer the maximum resilience in extreme weather conditions.
Great ergonomics integrated in Hawke Sapphire is shown in a lightweight and compact roof prism design that offers straight through design for comfortable handling. The models offer top-hinge design with 43 mm models and open-bridge design with 43 mm models for additional reduction of the weight and available surface to hold them firmly. Sapphire ED binoculars use magnesium alloy which is extremely lightweight for everyday use, but still durable to withstand the test of time. Underside of the barrels lie thumb depressors that help you with correct position of your hands, giving you a great balance. The rubber armouring also protect the whole body of these binoculars against impacts. Sapphire ED models are tightly sealed to make them resilient in even the most extreme weather conditions. Together with nitrogen gas filling to prevent internal fogginess, this significantly prevents corrosion and molding in a long run.
Sapphire ED offers incredible optical performance at a reasonable price for everyday use of birdwatchers and other wildlife observations and will satisfy even hunters and other more professional users. All the models offer amazing wide field of view that can easily help you in dynamic situations when you have to track down fast moving subjects such as big birds. They are fully multi-coated, with phase correction, dielectric prism coatings and extra-low dispersion glass that helps to eliminate unwanted chromatic aberration and glaring. This technology also helps with better light gathering and enhances contrast and colors for extremely lifelike images. There is also hydrophobic objective lens coating added, which is scratch-resistant since it repels moisture. When it comes to focusing, the Sapphire ED binoculars use grippy central focusing mechanism for quick adjustments and right-eye diopter to compensate for differences in the eyesight. Multi-positioned eyecups are also very convenient for quick and firm twist-up adjustments to make a proper eye-relief.
The Sapphire ED comes in high-quality leather case, impressively designed and well-padded to protect them. There is also neoprene neck strap added, objective lens covers and rainguards.
