CZ stands for Ceská Zbrojovka. The company headquarters are based in Uhersky Brod, a small town in the Czech Republic. The present-day CZ was set-up in 1936 as a subsidiary of CZ Strakonice, which was, in turn, a subsidiary of Zbrojovka Brno – the armaments industry grew rapidly in the new Czechoslovakia at the time, and Uhersky Brod seemed like a great location since it was secluded and lay beyond the range of German bombers. In 1939, German forces occupied Czechoslovakia and the company was renamed to Böhmische Waffenwerke. Until 1945, they made machine guns LK-30 and MG-17 for the German army. After World War II, Russians gained control of the entire region and the company was nationalized by the communist government. Along with firearms, the company produced parts for the CZ 125 motorcycle and parts for sewing machines. In 1957, they started producing Model 58 assault rifle, a Czech version of AK-47. In 1961, the renowned Skorpion machine pistol entered production. The famous CZ 75 pistol was launched in 1975. Ceská Zbrojovka became an independent company in May 1992 when the “iron curtain” fell. Today, they are one of the biggest manufacturers of light firearms. CZ 75, the famous pistol, is used as a basis by many other firearm manufacturers.
CZ 550, a bolt-action rifle, was first introduced in 1997 when it replaced CZ 537. It features a fixed magazine, but some models, chambered for .22-250 Rem., .243 Win. and .308 Win. can also come with a removable magazine. CZ 550 has an emergency gas pressure release valve on the right of the receiver. There are four locking lugs on the bolt. It has no mounting holes on the receiver; instead, the receiver is equipped with a 19mm dovetail for mounting purposes. CZ 550's action is controlled-feed. The safety catch is located on the right of the receiver, behind the bolt lever. CZ 550 rifles are chambered for .22-250 Rem., .243 Win., .308 Win., 6.5x55, .243 Win., .270 Win., 7x57, 7x64, .308 Win., .30-06 Sprg. and 9.3x62 (caliber range depends on the CZ 550 model). CZ 550 Magnum is chambered for 7mm Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag., .375 H&H, .416 Rem. Mag., .416 Rigby, and .458 Win. Mag. CZ 550 Scandinavian is a little bit different from other CZ 550 rifles – it has a raised back to its stock. It also has no dove-tail on the receiver but 4 mounting holes, two at the front mounting surface and two at the rear mounting surface.
This mount is made for all CZ 550 rifles with standard action length (it is not suitable for CZ 550 Scandinavian and Magnum versions) and Brno ZKK 600.

MAKuick mounts are robust and reliable. They offer a 100 % repeatability, meaning that the user can remove them and put them back onto the rifle without the need to re-zero. MAKuick mounts are designed so that they can withstand the recoil of even the most powerful calibers out there. They are lightweight because both the base and the rings are made from aluminum. The whole system that is in contact with the rifle (the clamping assembly) is made from steel. MAKuick is a versatile series of mounts – it allows mounting of all sorts of rings, all sorts of mounting rails (LM, ZM/VM, SR, Convex), different adapters that allow mounting of other devices such as ATN X-Sight; Pulsar Digisight, Apex, Trail; Fortuna devices etc. MAKuick mounts made for the mounting of riflescopes with a rail underneath are made of one part. Because of this, they are more robust, durable and reliable. For digital and thermal optical devices, the buyer has to pick a MAKuick base with four holes on which rings are usually put. Instead of the rings, the user mounts an adapter on top that works as a connector between the thermal optics and the MAKuick base. MAK makes one-piece MAKuick bases for the following rifles: CZ 527, CZ 550, Merkel KR 1, Merkel RX Helix – also fits on all Picatinny rails, Sauer 303, Sako 75, Sako 85 S, Sako 85 M, Tikka T3 and Blaser rifles. They also make a MAKuick base for break barrel rifles with a 12 mm dovetail and for break barrel rifles with a 14.5 mm dovetail (usually found on Czech break barrel rifles).
A MAKuick base can be converted to a mount for the following devices: Dedal Termo; Fortuna One; COT; ATN X Sight I, X Sight II; Pulsar Trail, Apex, Digisight; Yukon Photon XT; and STANAG. The adapters for these devices fit into the holes originally meant for rings. Their upper part is designed so that it can be mounted to one of the optical devices mentioned above.
First, the user has to make sure that the rifle is fixed (it is advised that the rifle is put into a rifle holder). Once the mount is slid into the dove-tail grooves and fixed by rotating the levers for 180°, the lock screws have to be unscrewed. The user then adjusts the clamping force of the adjustment screws with a hex key so that they are tightened but not too tightened. The lock screws have to be re-tightened to complete the mounting procedure. The recommended tightening torque is 4–5 Nm.
The product has a warranty period of 10 years.
