High power with good low light performance. Within the Echelon range, this 16x70 model strikes an excellent balance between offering a high power for long distance observation, whilst still ensuring a bright image and persevering a good low light performance.
The large 70mm objective lenses combined with top end Japanese made optics and Celestron’s proprietary XLT coating technology all work hand in hand making sure that not only is as much light collected as possible but as much of it as possible makes its way through the optical pathway and onto your eyes.
Ideal for scanning wide open terrain or for searching out constellations at night, the individual focus eyepieces mean that once you have used them to set up the binocular to match your particular vision, no further focal adjustments are necessary and everything from the minimum focus distance to infinity will remain on focus.
The high power and the fact that they are a fairly large and heavy instrument make it difficult as well as tiring on the arms to keep a steady view, so it is good to know that these binoculars are easily attached to a tripod using a standard tripod adapter.
The eye-relief is good and should easily be enough for eyeglass wearers to achieve the full field of view by folding down the eyecups.
Celestron Echelon are one of the best high-power binoculars for long-range observations that open your eyes to incredible scenery. Three models with incredible power and 70 mm objective lens can help you see incredibly detailed images of the night sky, especially convenient for every astronomy enthusiast, professional or hobbyist. Scanning of the large open areas will never be so comfortable and fruitful than with Celestron Echelon series that is able to pick out small objects at the longest distances. 20x70 model was awarded as being the best binocular of 2014 and 2015 by Best Binoculars Reviews.
Powerful Echelon series is made using the best build materials and modern optical technology. Aluminum housing makes them extremely durable and rubber armouring which wraps the construction helps to make them resistant to impacts. The surface of the armoring is rugged which helps with non-slip grip to firmly hold them in hands, very convenient when carrying these heavier binoculars. Tightly sealed construction helps to block out the penetration of water and dust, which makes them well protected even if you use them in the rain. They are also purged with nitrogen gas to prevent the internal fogging, making them fog-proof when quick temperature changes occur. Due to its size and power it’s highly recommended mounting them to a tripod, therefore Echelon integrates tripod adaptable screw that helps with steady images.
Echelon is equipped with glass manufactured in Japan and assembled by skilled technicians in USA. These binoculars are equipped with high-quality BaK-4 glass prisms and together with phase correction also fully multi-coated system. Using special XLT coatings that help to enhance light transmission of these already incredibly bright Porro prism binoculars, the images won’t be only bright but also rich in contrast and colors. Different distortions such as chromatic aberration or internal reflections are eliminated, providing incredibly clear images even during low-light conditions. They are also equipped with individual focusing that allow you to make fine adjustments by using both diopters separately. Eye-relief is incredibly generous with Echelon binoculars to make them perfect for eye glass wearers. Foldable eyecups help to position your eyes at a perfect distance without vignetting effect.
Echelon binoculars come with hard waterproof carrying case with strap that additionally protects binoculars against moisture and dust. Additional foam padding keeps them safe against impacts. They are also equipped with neck strap for carrying binoculars around the neck, objective lens and eyecup lens covers.
