The 10x42 configuration on this particular Granite ED model, along with their quality optical components and coatings combine to make for a versatile binocular which can be used in a wide variety of situations, but is one that really excels in open areas where you are observing wildlife, people or objects at fairly long distances in all but bad light conditions.
It is here that the reasonably high 10x magnification gets you closer to the action, but it is not so great as to make the image difficult to keep still in your hands or reduce the field of view by too much.
The perfect uses include activities like general wildlife observation, hunting and even birding along the coast or at a lake where light is good and the distances are a little greater.
Whilst not bad, the 15mm of eye relief falls a fraction short of what we usually recommend as a good choice should you need or want to wear glasses. If this is a concern for you, you may find that the 8x42 Granite with it’s 17mm of eye relief is a better option for your particular needs.
