These budget friendly binoculars are great for many outdoor activities and uses like hunting, general wildlife observation and surveillance. The 10x magnification adds image detail at slightly longer ranges than which you get with the 8x42 Outland X. That said, this higher power also creates a marginally narrower field of view and thus these binoculars are best used in open areas like you find in fields, the hills and along the coast.
As well as the width of view, the proportionately smaller exit pupil created by the 10x42 setup also reduces the effectiveness of this model in poor light when the pupils of your eyes are enlarged. Thus they will perform best for you and offer a bright image during the day in open, well-lit locations, rather than closed darker places like this forests where, the 8x42 model would be a better suited.
Whilst adequate for most users, the 14mm of eye relief will probably not be enough to achieve the full view should you want to keep your glasses on when using your binoculars. If this is a concern for you, the 18mm you get with the 8x42 Outland X will be sufficient.
