Kahles is a maker of sports optics with a long tradition, as they were established in 1898 and are amongst the oldest companies that produce riflescopes. They are owned by Swarovski OPTIK, but Kahles products are still known for their own excellence, mostly by tactical and sports shooters.
Kahles opted for a total remodel of their brand, so the business made some modifications to their business tactics. Helia S 10x42 is made in Austira.
The 10x42 binoculars are covered in orange and brown rubber, which appears both elegant, as well as sporty. The rubber is solid and offers a firm grip. There are indentations for the thumbs at the bottom of the barrels for extra support. The housing of the optics is made of magnesium.
Kahles Helia S 10x42 binoculars feature a single-bridge design, but it is not entirely central, so the observer can still hold them in one hand. The surface provides a safe grip, and the binoculars feature a slow focus. The eyepieces can be altered to 3 positions and are comfortable to use, even for those who wear glasses. Kahles Helia S is an excellent pair of binoculars that hunters love.
Magnesium body
Rubber armouring (provides a firm grip)
Single-bridge design
Waterproof (nitrogen gas purged)
Dust and water repellent coating on the outer surface of the glass
Fog-resistant
Can be mounted on a tripod
Central focus wheel
Wide field of view
This model of the Kahles Helia S binoculars has a magnification of 10x, which offers greater detail recognition when compared to the 8x magnification model, but a narrower field of view. Many advanced coatings are used to ensure a high light transmission rate – there is even a dust and water repellent coating on the outer surface of the glass.
However, the shaking of the hands is a bit more noticeable than on the 8x magnification models, so the 10x42 binoculars are not ideal for beginners. The field of view of Helia S 10x42 is 110 m at 1000 m. The image is sharp, and the edge sharpness is superb. The optical quality is unquestionably their biggest advantage.
Kahles Helia S 10x42 comes with a warranty period of 10 years.
