The Nitehog Viper is a high-quality thermal device that is made in the European Union.
It features a big 35-millimeter 1.2 aperture lens.
The Viper has an adjustable focus that gives it an advantage over other devices.
Compared to other 35-millimeter devices, the Viper is compact and much lighter.
The Viper also comes with the longest warranty on the market for any thermal device.
The device's measurements are 13 centimeters in length, approximately 6 centimeters in width, and 4.5 centimeters in height. Nitehog Viper is a compact device, it weighs only 250 grams. Its housing is made of magnesium.
The Viper thermal clip-on has three function buttons on the top that allow you to access a menu. You can pick a color palette, brightness, and contrast in the main menu. The weather, scene type, and sharpness filter can all be customized to enhance the image quality.
Nitehog Viper features a sleep mode, but it lacks video recording capabilities and is unable to snap photos or connect to other external devices.
The Viper has two strap attachment points, which allows you to use it as a monocular for observing. You can also remove the rubber from the eyepiece to attach the Viper to your riflescope. After you install the reduction ring, you can use a regular 52x0.75 millimeter thread adapter.
Viper features a conventional 320x240 resolution sensor with a 12 microns pixel pitch and 50Hz refresh rate.
The OLED screen at the rear of the device has a resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
There are two viewing modes:
full-screen mode for using the device as a monocular
a smaller central screen mode that only uses part of all available pixels for clip-on attachment
With the Viper, you get 1x magnification as it can be used as a clip-on device. With digital zoom, you can go up to 4x magnification--although the image quality will start to deteriorate. The field of view is approximately 190 meters on 1,000 meters, and the range of detection is roughly 1,400 meters.
The Nitehog Viper comes with:
two 16850 batteries,
a charger for the batteries with all the cables,
a carrying bag,
a detailed instruction manual, and
a quick guide.
Nitehog's devices are made in the EU and come with a five-year warranty, which is something unique in this segment. They also have a service department located in Germany.
