The Ranger 4 2.5-10x50 is a great option for those looking for an all-round hunting scope in the price range of around €1000.
The second generation of this scope brings many improvements, including a more premium feel, crisper clicks on the turrets, and an increased field of view.
Optically, this Steiner scope is still one of the best in its price class, with a sharp image that is clear edge to edge.
However, some users may not like the new reticle design, and the illumination is not as bright as it used to be. It is better in low-light though.
After six years, a popular Ranger series of five scopes has finally received an upgrade. We can refer Ranger 4 as the second generation of Ranger.
Ranger 4 models:
2.5-10x50 all-round model,
1-4x24 driven hunt scope,
4-16x56 was originally discontinued, but it has since been reintroduced
3-12x56 twilight specialist,
6-24x56 long range hunting scope.
The Steiner Ranger 4 2.5-10x50 is an all-around hunting riflescope. The magnification ring and dioptre ring on this model move more smoothly than they did on the previous version. The chassis is now a tad glossier compared to the previous generation. This is due to the scratch resistant hard anodizing that covers the body of this rifle scope.
Ranger 4 2.5-10x50 has a 30-millimeter mounting tube.
Ranger riflescope feature hunting, low profile turrets. They can also easily be reset to zero. The turrets now produce crisper clicks, and the clicks are further apart from each other so that you can feel them better. Altogether we have 14.5 MIL of elevation, and we have 60 clicks in one revolution of the turret.
In the instruction manuals, the reticle is still referred to as 4-AI (4-A Illuminated) The difference between the old and new model is in a fine dot in the middle instead of the intersection of lines.
The Steiner Ranger 4 2.5-10x50 scope feature reticle in the second focal plane. There is an off switch between each illumination level. You may just quickly turn it off and then back on without having to twist the illumination knob all the way.
At 2.5x magnification, this rifle scope provides 16 meters of the field of view at 100 meters. It also fares slightly better at the dusk, when compared to the previous model. Even on the edges, the image is clear, and there is no tunnel effect.
