Leica launched the ER series in 2009. At the time of their release, they were very innovative. In 2013, they re-engineered the models. The ‘i’ models featured illumination and an automatic power-off function. With time, Leica chose to stick only to the non-illuminated version, retaining the ER 6.5–25x56 LRS and discontinuing others.
The only model left in the ER series, 6.5–26x56 LRS, can be ordered with three different reticles: L-4a, L-Ballistic and Magnum Ballistic. The thickness of the crosshair is 0.12 in / 3 mm. Its high maximum magnification allows the user to shoot ambitiously at long distances. The model boasts a high light transmission rate of more than 91 %; a crisp, sharp image and a large eye relief for comfortable shooting even with the strongest calibers. The external parts of the lenses are coated with Leica’s AquaDura coating which repels dust particles and water droplets. The model features a parallax adjustment turret, allowing the user to set the focus from 50 m to infinity.
This second focal plane riflescope is of high quality – it is shockproof to withstand even the most powerful recoil. The POI can be set very precisely since a single rotation of the turret moves it for 5 mm on 100 m. A single-turn ballistic elevation turret with a locking function is included by default. It is intuitive to operate and will produce crisp, audible clicks upon rotation.
The riflescope has a 30mm tube and plenty of mounting space. Even though the scope is quite big, Leica managed to achieve an incredibly low weight of 810 g.
All ER models are made in Portugal.
The warranty is 10 years on the material. You can read more about the warranty policy here.
