These Hawke Frontier ED X binoculars, with their powerful 10x magnification bring distant subjects in close and are a popular choice for wildlife observers and hunters who want a high level of image detail at medium to long ranges.
Considering the reasonably high powered 10x magnification, these also have an impressively wide field of view. Indeed it matches many 8x binoculars and is something that users like birders who are often out in an open field, along the cost or at a lakefront where distances to their subjects are a little greater will really benefit from.
At 15mm the eye-relief is perfectly fine for most users, however, should you need to wear glasses, then the 8x42 Frontier ED X, with it’s 18mm of eye relief may be a better option to ensure that you are able to view the full image.
Users who also like to view things like butterflies at very close range will benefit from the minimum close focus distance of only 2 meters.
Available in 8x42 or 10x42 configurations and with either a green or grey finish, the Hawke Sport Optics premium grade Frontier ED X binoculars headline features include a fog and waterproof magnesium chassis, ED glass lenses, a fully multi-coated optical system and phase corrected Bak-4 roof prisms.
Available in a choice of either a green or grey body armour, in 8x or 10x magnifications and with 42mm objective lenses, this small, but versatile range of Hawke Frontier ED X binoculars boast a number of premium level components and features.
This combined with a very strict quality control inspection that includes waterproofing checks, performance in extreme temperature conditions, optical image formation, image resolution and level of light transmission ensures that the instrument you receive operates to its intended maximum potential and thus has a very high performance to price ratio.
The optics are protected by a very strong, yet lightweight magnesium chassis. Other advantages of this material is that it has an excellent corrosion resistance and is less prone to temperature related expansion and contraction than the alternatives which can lead to the optics being pulled out of alignment.
The rubber armour exterior provides a further layer of protection as well as improving comfort and grip.
The twist-up eyecups have multi-position click-stops which allow for accurate positioning of your eyes behind the ocular lenses for the best views possible. They can also easily be replaced should you ever damage them by dropping your binoculars for example.
The large centrally located focus wheel is easy to reach and adjust accurately even when wearing winter gloves. Another feature is the fast-focusing mechanism that takes you through the entire focal range with just 1.5 turns of the wheel. This helps you quickly find and then in the case of moving targets, track them more easily.
A right eye-diopter enables you to calibrate the binocular to allow for any differences in your right-left eye vision.
The superior optical system begins with the 42mm objective lenses that each contain elements of glass that have extra-low dispersion properties. This ED glass is better able to direct each of the wavelengths of light and thus increase colour reproduction and reduces chromatic aberration, which is one of the main causes of colour fringing that you often see in a magnified image.
The entire optical pathway has been treated with multiple coatings of an anti-reflection material, which improves brightness and image quality by improving the light transmission levels.
The exterior surfaces of these objective lenses also have an additional hydrophobic coating that is designed to repel water. This helps maintain an optimal viewing experience in wet conditions as well as making the lenses easier to clean.
The BaK-4 roof prisms are also phase corrected meaning that a coating of a special material is applied to them which keeps each of the wavelengths of light in phase with each other. Once again this improves image quality and definition and makes a noticeable difference when compared to unprotected roof prism binoculars.
As a premium grade instrument, they are supplied with the Hawke Sport Optics premium grade hard carry case. This offers the binoculars with an excellent level of protection, yet it is lightweight and has its own strap to make transportation as hassle-free as possible. Also included is a microfiber cleaning cloth, stay-on lens covers for total lens protection, harness adaptors and a comfortable neck strap.
As with their other premium grade instruments, these Hawke Frontier ED X binoculars are offered with the Hawke No Fault Warranty. This affirms that if the binocular is defective or gets damaged, Hawke Sport Optics will at their discretion, replace or repair it at no cost to you no matter whose fault it was. You can register your Hawke binoculars here and avoid the further complications in case the proof of purchase might get lost in the future.
