The Leica Trinovid 8x42 binoculars, from Leica’s well known and recently revised Trinovid HD line, are a very good all-round pair of binoculars, with excellent optical performance, the Trinovid’s legendary toughness and a very reasonable price tag.
Field of view is also ample, making these binoculars highly suitable for scanning the landscape. The 8x magnification is perfect for most scenarios, while the 42mm objective lenses represent a perfect ratio of light gathering capacity and size.
Packed full with the latest technology, the Leica Trinovid 8x42 mm HD leaves little to be desired. Special BaK-4 roof prisms with P40 phase correction coating, Leica’s uniqe HLS™ HighLux system and fully multicoated lenses ensure the image is clear and sharp, provide very high levels of light transmission, supress stray light and internal reflecions and also give the binoculars their elegant and compact shape.
The Trinovid HD line is well known for its almost legendary toughness. Leica didn’t cut any corners with the Leica Trinovid 8x42mm HD in this area. No plastic can be found on these binoculars, as only the best materials were used. High-strength magnesium frame provides toughness while also ensuring the weight of the binoculars stays low. Additional coat rubber armouring makes handling a joy and provides further reinforcement.
High quality construction of the internal mechanism and a stainless steel hinge make the operation silky smooth in virtually any conditions, even freezing cold. O-ring seals keep water and debris out of the binoculars, making them completely impermeable to water to a depth of 5 meters and nitrogen filled main tubes prevent fogging. The elegant shape, low weight and excellent ergonomics allow for complete stability and comfortable viewing.
Adjustable eye cups can be set to four different steps and provide ample eye relief, even for users, who wear glasses. A locking dioptre can be used to adjust for differences in a user’s eyes. Like all Leica Trinovids, the Trinovid 8x42mm HD comes with Leica’s limited lifetime warranty and with a three-year Passport Protection Plan.
